Central Tablelands and Blue Mountains Community Legal Centre (CTBMCLC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing free legal advice to individuals in the Blue Mountains, Oberon, Lithgow, Bathurst, and Orange regions. The center acknowledges and respects the traditional custodians of the lands on which they operate, including the Darug, Gundungurra, and Wiradjuri nations. CTBMCLC is committed to honoring Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultural and spiritual connections to the land, waters, and seas, recognizing their significant contributions to society.
CTBMCLC auspices two programs and welcomes donations to support their charitable work. As a registered charity and public benevolent institution, the center emphasizes the importance of Truth-telling and the necessity of Treaties for long-lasting reparations and healing. CTBMCLC acknowledges the historical injustices faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, leading to their overrepresentation in the justice system. The center upholds a responsibility to promote access to justice for Indigenous communities and provide culturally safe and respectful services.
Supporting the Uluru Statement from the Heart, CTBMCLC advocates for the rights and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. With a focus on delivering valuable legal assistance and fostering a more inclusive and equitable society, the center strives to create a supportive environment for individuals seeking legal guidance. By recognizing and honoring Indigenous cultures and histories, CTBMCLC aims to contribute positively to the communities it serves and uphold principles of justice and reconciliation.
