Regional Alliance West (formerly Geraldton Resource Centre) has a rich history dating back to 1984 when it was established as the Geraldton Emergency Relief Organisation (GERO). Over the years, the organization has evolved to provide a range of essential services to individuals experiencing disadvantage in the Mid West, Murchison, and Gascoyne regions of Western Australia. With a focus on addressing challenges such as long-term drought, lack of employment opportunities, and rising living costs, Regional Alliance West remains committed to supporting communities in need.
Since its inception, Regional Alliance West has expanded its offerings to encompass 11 diverse services, supported by a dedicated team of up to 33 full-time staff and volunteers. The organization’s outreach extends across a vast area, covering towns from Geraldton to Exmouth in the north, Leeman in the south, and Wiluna in the east. Despite the geographical challenges posed by servicing such a large region, Regional Alliance West has maintained a strong presence and continues to advocate for law reform and social justice initiatives.
Recognized for its outstanding commitment to service delivery, Regional Alliance West has received prestigious awards such as the Australian Training Awards 2005 and the Prime Minister’s Small Business of the Year Award. The organization’s involvement in various associations and networks underscores its dedication to collaboration and community support. With a focus on providing access to information, advice, and support, Regional Alliance West plays a vital role in enhancing the well-being of individuals and families across Western Australia.
